When we’ve ignored our intuition or lived to please others, doubt grows. It’s less about the choice itself and more about not trusting ourselves to handle the outcome.
Healing the Doubt of Lack of Self-Trust
(Hypnotherapy / Guided Inner Authority Repair Script)
Take a slow breath in…and let it out fully.
Allow your body to settle into the surface beneath you.
Feel supported.
In this moment, you are not being evaluated.
As your awareness turns inward, notice the familiar hesitation – the pause before choosing, the questioning of yourself.
This doubt didn’t come from weakness.
It came from learning to survive by adapting to others.
Silently say now:
“I did what I needed to do to belong.”
And feel the compassion in that truth.
Releasing People-Pleasing Imprints
Bring to mind moments when you ignored your inner knowing
to keep peace,
to be accepted,
to avoid conflict or loss.
Notice the body response – perhaps a tightening or heaviness.
Now gently speak this truth inwardly:
“My intuition was not wrong.
It was overridden.”
Let that distinction land.
You were not broken.
You were conditioned.
Restoring Inner Authority
Now imagine a light in your chest – steady, calm, unwavering.
This is your inner authority.
It does not shout.
It does not rush.
It simply knows.
With each breath, feel that light strengthening, reclaiming space once given away.
Say silently:
- I am allowed to trust myself.
- I am allowed to choose and learn.
- I can handle the outcome of my choices.
Notice how the body begins to relax when pressure to “get it right” dissolves.
Reframing Trust
Let a new understanding take root:
Self-trust is not believing I’ll never fail.
Self-trust is knowing I won’t abandon myself if I do.
Allow this truth to sink deep into the nervous system.
You don’t need certainty.
You need self-loyalty.
Installing a New Inner Response
Now imagine yourself at a future decision point.
Instead of doubt asking, “What if I’m wrong?” a new voice gently asks:
“Can I trust myself to respond with honesty and care?”
And your body answers… Yes.
Feel the steadiness of that yes.
Integration and Closure
Take one final deep breath in…and release it slowly.
As you return, know this:
Doubt fades when self-abandonment ends.
Trust grows when you choose yourself – again and again.
When ready, gently open your eyes.
